HI, I'M ERIKA
I'm the photographer and owner of Studio Metsä.
At Studio Metsä I specialize in photographing women like you who want to challenge themselves and change their lives.
Ten years ago I was stuck. I was living life with limiting beliefs about who I could be and what I could do, never questioning their validity. Little did I know, these limitations were slowly building a cage around me.
It wasn’t until that cage began to inhibit my daily life that I realized something had to change. There was only one option and it was to GO.
That was the beginning of my photography career and a whole new me.
It’s amazing how one small decision can make such an impactful change in your life. Breaking free from my cage has allowed me to live life on my own terms, embarking on an adventure that I could never consider going back from.
So, whatever form the cage manifests itself in your life, you can be free from it and that’s what I’m here to help you get started with.
I know it’s challenging to make changes. Fear will start whispering in your ear saying you can’t do it, it’s not worth the risk, you’re better off staying in your comfort zone.
In fact, imagine this: there you are, in your car, driving on the same boring, straight road you always drive on when suddenly, almost with new eyes, you spot an inviting little road on your right. Sick of the straight road, you make a sharp turn to explore this other road.
Well, that sharp turn just woke something up in the backseat. That something isn’t used to these types of changes in your driving. It’s alarmed. “What’s going on?!”
Eyes wide it sees an environment that it has never been in, freaks out and starts yelling in your ear: “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST YOUR MIND?!! THIS IS NOT WHAT WE USUALLY DO!! YOU WILL GET US LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, GET BACK ON THE ROAD!! NOW!!”
And it will go on. And on. And on.
And it won’t stop.
In fact it’ll probably get personal. It’ll say nasty things that make you feel like crap and doubt your capabilities.
That’s fear for you. It’ll always be there, nudging you back to the easy road.
When you do something that is out of the ordinary, something that doesn’t comply with what you’ve always done, fear will, and make no mistake about this, it will, raise its ugly head.
But there’s something fear doesn’t know. You have a choice. You can listen to its desperate pleas or you can choose not to give a flying fudgecake about it!
Put in ear plugs! Turn up the volume to your favorite tunes! Or throw fear straight in the trunk and push the pedal!
Which ever method you choose, make sure it keeps you going forward!
Start with one
There’s one fear a lot of people wouldn’t necessarily consider to be fear – being photographed.
However, the thought of being photographed makes many people uncomfortable. Does it make you?
You’re not alone. Many of us women struggle with our self-image and being the center of attention.
Yet we all want to feel beautiful and admired, we want to see photographs of ourselves where we are positively glowing. Right?
Of course we do!
But there’s something in the way of getting that…
Yet again we’re faced with it. (Seriously, can’t it get a clue and realize it’s highly unwanted in our lives?!)
Good news is, when you face one fear successfully, you’re much more likely to face other fears because your confidence has increased. “If I can do this, I wonder what else I can do?!”
Just like any change you wish to make in your life, fears also need to be tackled one at a time.
So start with one fear. Just one.
The first fear you face won’t change your entire life, but it’ll light something up within you that’ll make you want to face more fears. Your life will never be the same again.
So face your fear of being photographed and being the center of attention.
Face your fear of what others might think.
Face your fear of what you’ll look like in the photos.
Facing these fears will start a beautiful domino effect. You’ll notice that actually you can do that which you thought you can’t, you do look beautiful in photographs and being photographed with Studio Metsä is actually really fun!
