Many Christmas carols are inspired by a beautiful White Christmas but so it was again this year up here in Finland that we did not enjoy a white, but in fact a very black Christmas. However in the past few days, much to my delight, the temperatures have started to make their way below zero (celsius) and this morning we finally woke up to a beautiful frost:
This frost was a happy coincidence as I was expecting to be receiving my new letterpress business cards in the mail today. As you can imagine, I couldn’t let this beautiful frost go undocumented so I used it as a gorgeous backdrop for my brand new, snow white business cards.
Now let me officially announce and introduce the new Studio Metsä Business Cards:
I wanted these cards to represent the idea of photography – drawing with light – which is why I chose to have them printed with letterpress without ink (also known as blind deboss). This way it begs the person holding the card to interact with it and tilt it in different ways in order to have the light cast shadows inside the pressed letters and numbers, allowing for better legibility.
I am really happy with how they turned out and am happy to recommend Hippo Atelier to anyone and everyone as they went above and beyond for me. Everything really is in the customer service and this place proves it, yet again. The only thing that is a downside for me, as I am all for the environmentally friendly produce, is that they are not a local print house. I am yet to find a print house in Finland that offers the variety of products and the level of customer service that I have received in foreign companies. If anyone knows of any, I would be more than happy to hear about them! :)
Now I will leave you with a demonstration of the beauty of blind deboss with light. May the light be with you! ;)
Until next time,
